According to Wikipedia, “Laughter is an audible expression or appearance of happiness, or an inward feeling of joy (laughing on the inside).” Never trust Wikipedia. Find out what laughter is for yourself with today’s Groupon. Just $7 gets you a ticket to The Comedy Store’s Original Room (more than half off the $15 value). Browse the Comedy Store’s show calendar and plan your visit around the Original Room performance that you anticipate giving you the greatest number of giggles (note: not valid for Saturday night main room shows).
The folks at The Comedy Store say it’s one of the oldest and most revered comedy venues in Los Angeles. You may already know the world-famous venue for its claim to fame: helping launch the careers of millions of famous comedians, including Dave Chappelle, Jay Leno, Jim Carrey, George Carlin, David Letterman, Richard Pryor, and countless others. But the laughs didn’t end with Pryor—they kept on and on ‘til the break of now. Every night, the Original Room features comedic performances by 16 national headliners—more than any other club in the country. Your Groupon may just get you a ticket to see the next Richard Pryor—and one day you’ll tell your kids that you saw the current Richard Pryor when he was just the next Richard Pryor.
Not only will you enjoy laughing with and at these amazing headliners, but you’ll also reap the benefits of laughter’s many positive side-effects, such as:
- Lowering blood pressure
- Strengthening cardiovascular functions
- Reducing stress hormones
- Improving circulation
- Increasing muscle flexion
- Oxygenating the body by boosting the respiratory system
- Boosting immune function by raising levels of infection-fighting T-cells, disease-fighting proteins called Gammainterferon and B-cells, which produce disease-destroying antibodies
- Triggering the release of endorphins, the body’s natural painkillers
- Producing a general sense of well-being
The Comedy Store has been owned by the Shore family since opening under the guidance of Sammy Shore and now run by Mitzi Shore. Pauly Shore, their son, performs weekly at The Comedy Store, spreading laughs and health to all who will listen. Grab this Groupon, have your friends buy one too (or just buy one for them), see a show, and fill your night with laughs at The Comedy Store.
Reviewers have been laughing all the way back to their computers and have given The Comedy Store a four-star average on Citysearch and a 3.5-star rating on Yelp: > * My family loves the comedy store. My husband and I started going there about 8 years ago, we would go every night when in LA. Our daughter couldn’t wait to turn 21 to be able to go with us, we took her there as soon as she turned 21, and she loves it too. The comics are usually very good, the drink rates are reasonable, the popcorn is good, and the value for the buck is fantastic. – boonie51, Citysearch > * would totally recommend this place, i had a great time. Lots of laughs , good friends i was so hysterical about being there, only because i’m not from there. It didn’t even feel real, i look back and it’s like it was a dream. It’s definitly [sic] not your average club, but the stand ups were great, the people were great. i had no complaints, except that i didn’t get to meet pauly shore (big fan). Maybe next time, i am so going back. – iwannalaugh, Citysearch > * Best place in LA for laughs!! go to the original room and you’ll laugh your ass off till 2am!!…GO! but don’t try to leave early or they’ll attack you! – dave g., Yelp

About The Comedy Store
What’s now known as The Comedy Store was once called Ciro's, a nightlife hotspot in the 1940s and '50s. Playing host to glitzy stars and shadowy mobsters, the club's history is shrouded in rumors of mafia assassinations and untimely deaths. However, the joint buried its seedy past by converting to a comedy club and helping launch the careers of such legends as Richard Pryor, Jim Carrey, George Carlin, David Letterman, and Dave Chappelle. The younger La Jolla location lets laugh-starved patrons bask in the same high-powered comedic atmosphere as its progenitor.
