Though most comic books tell fictional tales about superheroes saving the world, some are just about guys in their mid-40s who can open jars of mustard pretty quickly. Choose your adventure with this Groupon.

Choose Between Two Options

  • $5 for one copy of The Walking Dead, Volume 1 (a $9.99 value)
  • $15 for $30 worth of comics and merchandise

Guests soak in the nail-biting, zombie-horror drama of the original The Walking Dead graphic novel, or rack up their geek street cred with T-shirts ($14.99–$27.99), magic card packs ($3.99+), and graphic novels (most priced less than $29.99).

The Comic Bug

After taking over an unassuming storefront space, The Comic Bug's founders, Mike and Jun, converted the shop into a nerve center for hobbyists and comics fans—a place filled with thousands of new releases and back issues, games, figures, and graphic novels. Guests hang out on couches while sipping exotic sodas and Slurm and perusing an ample supply of mainstream-label comics, as well as a bumper crop of serials from small publishers and independent labels.

A friendly community of like-minded fans meets up at the shop for rounds of Magic and Heroclix and screenings of TV shows and movies. After catching up on the latest graphic-novel series or exploits of a famous superhero, guests browse games, figurines, DVDs, and apparel. The Comic Bug even occasionally hosts famous names in comics—past guests have included Mark Waid, who wrote Kingdom Come, and the woman who accidentally made eye contact with Stan Lee.

Went there yesterday to use my Groupon. They had a great selection and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Reminded me of the local neighborhood comic book stores back in the good old days. I definitely recommend this place for anyone who is into comic books.
