A scavenger hunt sharpens your mental adroitness and navigational skills, making it excellent preparation for finding hidden treasures at flea markets during galloping bouts of vertigo. Today’s Groupon gets you steps closer: for $24, you get a ticket to a combination Historic Philadelphia Walking Tour and Scavenger Hunt from The Constitutional Walking Tour (a $49 value). Each combo tour/hunt begins at 10:30 a.m. and lasts about two-and-a-half hours. Choose from the following dates:

• Saturday, August 13, 2011
• Saturday, August 20, 2011
• Saturday September 10, 2011
• Saturday, September 17, 2011
• Saturday September 24, 2011

The 75-minute Historic Philadelphia Walking Tour begins near the stone benches outside the main entrance of the National Constitution Center, located on Arch Street, and follows a surprise route to some of more than 20 historical sites including Independence Hall, Congress Hall, Old City Hall, and Signers' Walk. For the Historic Philadelphia Scavenger Hunt, teams of between 2 and 10 urban explorers are given a list of clues, and a knowledgeable history hunter provides hints about Philly’s plethora of historic sites. Modern revolutionaries can bend their brains around tales of Alexander Hamilton's predilection for stinky cheeses and Charles Pinckney's green thumb while hitting the pavement for a knowledge-packed adventure. Effusive patriots let freedom ring at the Liberty Bell and declare undying love to their city, nation, and washer and dryer at Declaration House. Participants are given up to 90 minutes to complete the hunt, converging at its conclusion to learn the results and figure out which team won first prize.

Fun thing to do on a cool evening. Lots of interesting history even if you don't see a ghost!

Lots of fun. Great for adults as well as children. Not particularly strenuous, but wear your walking shoes.
