About The Cork Stop

Sophia Stamos and Valerie Gidaris-Papantonakis both worked as school teachers, enriching the minds of a new generation. But there were two subjects they loved that they could never broach within school walls: fine wine and craft beer. So they dreamed of opening a store where they could share their love of craft beverages with customers who shared the same passion. And when the opportunity presented itself, they jumped at the chance. They hired their husbands to run the daytime operations and together families tarting bringing fine beverages to the community.

Today the group hand selects each bottle of wine, trying everything in the store before putting it on the shelves. Frank, the wine director, readily helps people find exactly what they're looking for, combing the world for exciting flavors to add to the stock. Then there's beer director Nick, who specializes in locally crafted brews. He also fosters relationships with many New England breweries, trying the latest and greatest to come out their fermentation and conditioning tanks.
