Q:

Do you trot and gallop or is it just a walk?

marie-christine h.  asked on  Mar 1, 2013

A:

Hi Marie-Christine, The gait on the trail is determined by the experience level of the riders. Trotting is most certainly possible. However, as per the OEF's standards, galloping is never done on the trail for safety reasons.

Q:

Do you have a price for a group of 3?? We are all experienced riders...Is this a head-in-tail trail ride or is this 'free-range' so that we can go a faster than a 'walk'? Is there a minimum required for a ride? A schedule of times for the ride would also be helpful. How much time for the ride vs. the 'lesson' component. Sorry for all of the questions, but this is the first time that I have ever considered using 'groupon'. Many thanks...Naomi

A:

Hi Naomi, Unfortunately no. You may purchase a pair plus a single if the three of you would like to go together and book in the same slot. A fourth person not from your group may join you though as there are four slots available for every ride. You are assessed in the ring first as all riders have had different kinds of experiences and our horses are controlled by their riders, not nose-to-tail. As for the gait, provided that you are all capable yes, the guide will have you go beyond a walk. And as for assessment versus trail time, again, this depends a great deal on rider experience. It can be as little as 10 minutes for an experienced group. We simply want to ensure that everyone know how to handle their horse safely as not to put yourself or anyone else in the group at risk. As for scheduling, an online schedule will be available in March, but at this time the rides will go out both during the day, during the week as well as weekends, with both morning, lunch and afternoon times available.
