What You'll Get
Horses were once considered man’s best friend, but after the invention of the dog, the horse was rebranded as man’s eccentric, oat-obsessed uncle. Take a journey with the kindest of kinsmen with today's Groupon to The Davie Ranch. Choose between the following options:
- For $30, you get a private, one-hour horseback-riding lesson (a $60 value).
- For $245, you get a basic children's party package for up to 30 kids (a $495 value).
Set in The Davie Ranch's 36-stable barn, the basic party package transports children to a Wild West overrun with gangs of adorable animals. Complete with a stage, wooden picnic tables, and an iPod-ready sound system, the party room is sheltered from the rain and stocked with ceiling fans to counter the heat and thwart escaping balloons. For one of the party's two hours, children have access to unlimited pony rides and a petting zoo, where notoriously cuddly goat kids duel with piglets for young hands' attention. This Groupon can also be applied toward an upgrade to one of Davie Ranch's longer and bouncier party packages.
Davie Ranch's private horseback-riding lessons school fledgling equestrians in English-style riding. After reviewing the parts of the horse and saddle, students learn how to mount their steed and lead it to water, and more advanced lessons, such as faster gaits and making the horse drink, are available depending on rider experience. Though horses and helmets are included with the lesson, long pants and closed-toe shoes are required.

About The Davie Ranch
While it's accurate to call The Davie Ranch an equestrian facility, that title sells the ranch seriously short. That's because the 10-acre farm is home to not only horses and ponies, but also a range of cute baby critters in the petting zoo, from sheep, goats, and miniature horses to hedgehogs and chicks. It's pretty welcoming to humans, too. A 6,000-square-foot stable serves as the centerpiece for the daily activities and protects visitors when rain clouds threaten or a giant wooden horse mysteriously appears in the driveway. Inside, creature comforts abound, including picnic tables, a stage for live performances, a dance floor, and small rooms ideal for birthday parties.
