Questions and Answers 12 questions

Q:

Do you have to be home to receive your order?

Anicia H.  asked on  Aug 8, 2013

A:

Very sorry we were unable to get an answer for your question. Since there is a limited amount of time left to purchase this Groupon, please reach out to the business directly at (757) 351-4565 to determine if you need to be home for delivery.

Q:

Do you offer homemade goodies along with the fruit and veggies? We do not cook a lot but love homemade jams and !

Pamela S.  asked on  Aug 8, 2013

A:

They do have add-ons available for purchase. According to the FAQ, "Add-ons are a variety of foods and food products that are produced by Virginia artisans. These may include peanuts, peanut candy, jellies, jams, apple butter, cider, and mushrooms. They’ll be in the Friday menu email that lists what’s in the boxes. Any add-ons you order will be delivered to your home along with your normal weekly produce. In addition, when we occasionally have surplus fruits and vegetables, we’ll offer them as an add-on."

Q:

Delivery charges are mentioned but not explained. Is there a charge for the first offered as part of the Groupon, and if so how much is it? What is the delivery charge for a non-Groupon purchase?

Luan B.  asked on  Aug 5, 2013

A:

Luan, There are no delivery charges or hidden fees at The Farm Table. (Would love to know where you found mention about delivery charges. I would remove it because it is incorrect.) We strive to have great customer service and being above board with our charges is one of the ways we do that. Duane

Duane S.  from  Merchant  replied on  Aug 6, 2013

A:

'Every week, The Farm Table delivers a box of fresh fruits and vegetables—such as spinach, sweet potatoes, squash, apples, or salad fixings— directly to your home or office for a weekly charge.' Whew like finding a needle in a haystack. I think you are referring to this sentence above in the Groupon deal. The weekly charge this sentence is referring too is the $27.75 per box each week we write about in the next sentence. This is the standard fee for the Garden and Chef box and is not a delivery charge. We do not mention a delivery charge because there is none.

Q:

Do you deliver to Poquoson?

Corinne D.  asked on  Aug 5, 2013

A:

Corinne, Poquoson is hard because it becomes country so fast. I would have to know your address to see. Our unwritten rule is if we pass a corn field or a horse stable we are going too far. I always love being in horse stables and corn fields but we have to stop delivering somewhere. Duane

Q:

Can I get weekly delivery in Hampton Roads? The first page of the Deal Delivery only talks about Richmond and Fredricksburg

Dan R.  asked on  Aug 4, 2013

A:

Dan, I saw that too and will get that fixed tomorrow in the Grouopon Deal. We are currently delivering to Richmond and Fredericksburg and those town sneaked into this deal. This deal is for new customers in Hampton Roads and the surrounding area. Thanks for pointing that out. Duane Customer Service

Duane S.  from  Merchant  replied on  Aug 4, 2013

A:

Dan, We have fixed the Groupon Deal to not mention Richmond or Fredericksburg. Duane

Q:

I purchased this deal, but the website is not secure, and it does not provide you the correct information in the drop down boxes when you sign up. It also states you can have it delivered to your business or home, however it does not allow you to input anything other than a home address? I would like for this to be delivered in Virginia Beach and prior to buying it stated there was delivery for that area.

Amber A.  asked on  Aug 4, 2013

A:

Amber, Good questions. The deal asks you to call us first before signing up so we can walk you through our procedures. We are having a few difficulties with our website and the programmers decided to take the weekend off, what are those guys thinking. We ask you to wait until Wednesday to sign up so we can fix our glitches. That will be plenty of time for you to get your first box August 15. We are delivering to Virginia Beach, do not worry. We do deliver to your business or home. Thanks for informing us that we then ask for the home address only. It should say business or home address. Feel free to call (757) 351-4565 with questions. Duane

A:

Our programmers are back and have solved the security issue. We use the same security software on our website as Amazon. Duane

Q:

I work in Norfolk and our company offers CSA membership with 5 Points Community Farm Market here in Norfolk; however, on my salary it is too expensive for me to take advantage of. I am interested in this Daily Deal because of the price, the option of ordering only when I have the need, the home-grown advantage of fresh fruits and vegetables, and more importantly supporting our local farmers. But would like to know if your services are comparable to a CSA membership in the fact that each week I would receive enough produce for 2 adults.

Felecia W.  asked on  Aug 5, 2013

A:

Felecia, Here is what is in our garden box this week - Yellow Peaches, Multi-Color Carrots, Double order of Green Beans (2lbs), Hydroponic Bibb Lettuce, Yummy Sweet Pepper Mix, Heirloom Tomatoes. The box we use is similar to a 25 pound tomato box and it will be full with what is in the garden box this week. I love that you get us so quickly. We are all about getting you fruits and vegetables at the peak of ripeness. This helps you maintain your overall health. We also are all about convenience with home delivery and the ability for members to skip boxes on various weeks, we have no maximum number of skips either. Finally, we are a very fun group of people. Q:

Is this for Norfolk too?

Debra D.  asked on  Aug 4, 2013

A:

Debra, Absolutely, when moving into your area we want to serve all. Our only exception is we don't drive by corn fields or horse stables when delivering. We stay in the towns. If you live out with the horses you should have a garden. (OK we all should have a garden but that's not feasible for some.) Duane

Q:

Is everything grown organically?

Susan S.  asked on  Aug 4, 2013

A:

Susan, The term “organic” is now a technical term defined by the government and I only know of a few local farmers who are certified. Our family farmers practice sustainable farming on land their families have farmed for generations. They use methods that will allow them to continue to farm there for generations to come – methods like “low spray”: They only spray when they find something attacking their crops. Spraying’s expensive, so “low spray” is more affordable as well as better for us and the planet. I was at Jimmy Pickett's farm this week and he was spreading compost in his fields before planting for the fall. That's what we all like to see. Duane Customer Service
