Choose Between Two Options
- $149 for a five-day youth fencing day camp (a $350 value)
- $29 for four one-hour child or adult fencing classes (a $90 value)
The camp makes fencers out of boys and girls 7–15 years old. Instructors lead games that introduce the tree types of weapons: foil, épée and saber. After warming up, campers learn footwork and technique. They then compete in fencing bouts. Instructors also mix in some nonfencing activities, such as doge ball and basketball. Camps take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 5–9 or 12–16. Additional pickup and drop-off times are available. Each camper should bring $10 for lunch.
Instructors also introduce these fundamental techniques during adult and child fencing classes, which welcome students aged 7 or older. Click here for the class schedule. Both campers and regular students should wear long pants and tennis shoes. Instructors supply all other equipment.
The Fencers Academy
The Fencers Academy's head coach Hossam Hassan boasts an impressive résumé. The expert has trained fencers for more than three decades, and he holds nine certifications from the French fencing federation and the International Olympic Committee. Of course, the biggest testament to Hassan's expertise is his students’ success. Seventy-five percent of his current fencers are nationally ranked, and he has trained top finishers in international youth tournaments and world-cup events.
