The Miami New Times raves over the perfectly prepared seafood at The Fish House:
- Made with a minimum of mayonnaise, the dip was surprisingly subtle, livened with a bit of lemon and not overwhelmed by the element that mars most similar spreads: too much smokiness. The Fish House's smooth, delicately tangy spread was unquestionably good enough to make an additional order irresistible. This is one of Miami's best. – Pamela Robin Brandt, Miami New Times
TripAdvisors and Citysearchers give The Fish House four stars:
- Great seafood. Friendly and relaxed environment. Excellent service. I LOVE the tuna dips with the saltine crackers, and that is just the beginning. You should try the clam chowder. It is amazing. – emliu, TripAdvisor
- Sitting back in the cozy booths which are referred to as the "ocean view" and enjoying the Sesame Tuna of the Fishermans Rice is a very enjoyable experience. The food is great, the smoked fish dip is wonderful, and most portions are quite good sized. – A TripAdvisor Member
Animal House(s)
Before you sit down for a heaping plate of fresh seafood, take a moment to observe your surroundings. Take in the decor. Is anything amiss? Locals have observed that in addition to The Fish House, a number of other animal houses have been popping up in the Miami area, and not all may be friendly to man. Beware of the following signs:
If the salmon being served to you is raw and not on a plate, but is instead leaping upstream in an indoor trench, dug with merciless claws to redirect the course of a river: You are in a bear house. Leave as silently as possible, or failing that, try to make yourself look big.
If you are in an intricate atrium leading to innumerable hexagonal chambers, dripping with honey and nectar and vibrating with a tooth-rattling, inescapable collective buzz: You are in a bee house. Begin wildly flailing your limbs and everything will work itself out.
If you are observing the world’s largest collection of homemade Veronica Mars snow globes, and the walls smell strongly of crustacean-taxidermy chemicals: You are in the house of Brad Mashinaw, age 27, of unincorporated Lake Belvedere Estates. Begin flailing your limbs wildly and try to make yourself look big.
