Since cheetah-shoes don't yet exist and a tree stump with a saddle on it is hopelessly immobile, bicycles remain the best way to tour a city. See the sights in two-wheeled fashion with today's Groupon: for $17, you get one of two guided bike tours of the Twin Cities from The Fit Tourist (a $35 value).
The Fit Tourist’s crew guides adventurous cyclists on tours of scenic Minneapolis. Riders on trusty metal steeds wheel-gallop through downtown streets and traverse winding rustic trails, taking in the sights as well as the sounds of factoids about the city’s rich history. Native Minnesotans and short-term guests-of-state alike gain new appreciation for local landmarks with the Downtown Extravaganza Ride, in which pedalers pump through the heart of Minneapolis, visiting such sites as the Stone Arch Bridge and the famed Guthrie Theater and journeying through the history of oversized plaster gnomes at the Walker Sculpture Garden. Cyclists seeking a less urban experience can tackle the Minnehaha and Lakes Ride, which includes a stop beneath the cascading waters of Minnehaha Falls and a picturesque trek through the tree-draped canopies of the Minnehaha Creek Trail. Both tours navigate the banks of the mighty Mississippi, allowing riders to marvel at the power of nature and the abundance of sibilants.
Tours depart from the Sheraton Hotel or Minneapolis Convention Center and last approximately 2.5 hours, and participants are provided with a bike and a helmet, leaving only performance-enhancing spandex pants to riders' discretion.
