The wine tasting allowed my husband & I, who are not well versed in wine, to taste various wines and see what we liked. My husband, who only drinks a few times a year, bought a bottle of wine along with a bottle that I liked (one red & one white).

It was a wonderful experience. The staffs are very courteous and knowledgeable about their wines. The only this that i don't like is nobody answer their phones. I called on a monday to let them know that we are coming to the wine tasting on thursday but nobody return my call; then i called again on thursday morning and left a message again but did not recieved a call back. But once were there, its a good experience.. Maybe put out several high tables so people have a place to put heir stuff and eat some cheese and crackers while their mingling around..

About The French Wine Merchant

More than 30 years ago, Maurice Amiel moved from Paris to New York, where he first opened The French Wine Merchant. A second East Coast shop followed, but when his success led to retirement in Palm Beach, he got restless. So, Maurice opened up another shop, just to "make sure I have good wines for myself and others," he told the Palm Beach Post. Now Maurice is bringing his wines and wine tastings to the DC area!

Maurice offers high-quality wine tastings from obscure, overlooked producers in France, Italy, and around the world. Rather than procuring wine from importers, distributors, or the struggling car salesmen forced to burrow into local vineyards, Maurice relies on his network of relationships with vintners and artisan producers themselves. That rapport gives him the ability to corral products for you to taste and experience at his exclusive tastings.
