What You'll Get
Eating healthy can raise questions such as, "Are crayons a fruit or a vegetable?" and "How many steaks does a growing baby need?" Answer culinary questions with today's Groupon: for $90, you get one month of organic prepared meals delivered to the New River Valley, Roanoke City, and Salem free of charge from The Fresh Palate (a $180 value).
The Fresh Palate's head chef Giovanni Guarini keeps homes stocked with a menu of healthy meals composed of some of the freshest organic meats and veggies available. Over the course of one month, subscribers can make weekly selections of four meals, including two entrees, such as the beef burger grazing on fields of potatoes and fresh veggies ($13), and a pasture-raised breakfast frittata ($6). Nibblers also get to mix and match with two You Pick 2 selections that combine soups, such as the freshly hatched chickpea chili ($8), with salads, such as the citrusy rabbit, orange, and kalamata olive ($12.50), and a bread-bordered sandwich, or side salads and pizzas, including the savory sage, garlic, and parmesan pie ($10). Deliveries arrive on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays after 4 p.m., and customers should order by noon on the day before their next delivery.
The Fresh Palate ties a friendship bracelet around it and the environment by working closely with local growers to procure a range of meats from grass-fed cattle, organic vegetables, and cage-free carrots. Comestibles come in Trellis Earth disposable packaging and recyclable aluminum foil or tins, and stay temperate during delivery inside reusable thermal-insulated bags filled with ice packs.
