Running clears the mind while strengthening the body, making it the ideal warm-up for an athlete and the most hated activity for a sentient brain floating in a jar. Race for the prize with this Groupon.

The Graffiti Run kicks off at the University of Houston main campus on Sunday, December 2. Waves begin at 9 a.m. and continue at 20-minute intervals until the last runners take off. On or before race day, participants can pick up their registration packet, which includes one bag of color powder, a race-day T-shirt, a sweatband, and entry into the post party.
The Graffiti Run
Stopwatches and quests to beat personal records have no place at The Graffiti Run, where runners, joggers, and walkers make their way through a colorful 5K course. A loyal team of “leprechauns” camps out along the sidelines, tossing handfuls of nontoxic, cornstarch-based powder at racers—who are encouraged to don all white—as they frolic by without a thought about their pace or the imaginary wolves chasing them. Afterward, participants gather for food and music at the postrace party, where they can show off their newly colored threads, and toss more powder into the air every 15 minutes following a “3-2-1!” countdown. Funds raised from the run will be donated to the University of Houston’s auxiliary services.
Mighty Mud Dash
Clean running clothes have no place at Mighty Mud Dash, a 5K-challenge course that beckons runners of all fitness levels to plunge through stretches of mud in search of glory. Friendly competition is encouraged as waves of runners forge a path through more than 20 rugged, slippery obstacles—including wall climbs, cargo net-covered crawls, 30-yard mud-filled trenches, and a sprawling tarp slide.
Though the main race is only open to competitors age 14 and older, a scaled-down 100-yard obstacle dash welcomes children as young as 6 to test their agility and endurance. After the competition, participants gather for celebration and music at the post-race party, where they can rinse off or roll all over an expensive white velour sofa to a soundtrack of upbeat tunes. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the work of Boot Campaign, a national non-profit organization dedicated to cultivating awareness, promoting patriotism, and providing assistance to military personnel past and present and their families.
