At the age at which most children learn to speak, Mozart had already composed four symphonies, restored 11 classic cars, and built a robot to play against in squash. Catch up to Mozart's accomplishments with today's Groupon: for $45, you get four private electric-, acoustic-, or bass-guitar lessons (a $22.50 value per class) at The Guitar Lab (a $90 total value). Today's deal is for new customers only.

The Guitar Lab's experienced instructors reveal the mysteries of stringed instruments to the ears of eager fledglings, with personalized, hands-on guidance. Four lessons help develop a base for well-rounded musicians, with five critical areas of focus: melody, harmony, rhythm, theory, and listening skills. Students can choose their own songs to learn, whether rock, folk, or country, eliminating the monotony of practicing Yankee Doodle. The Guitar Lab trains all its instructors in a supportive teaching approach, and supplies parents or overanxious house pets with quarterly progress reports. After achieving mastery of a targeted skill, students receive badges, and when they eventually excel in all six critical areas, they earn a colored guitar strap and really jazzy stage name. The Guitar Lab offers instruments for rent.

Reviews

The Evansville Courier & Press featured The Guitar Lab:

  • The only prerequisite for the class is having a guitar to learn on, Boren said, but he allows that some of the instruments are going to cause problems for their owners, and he will point those problems out as the class progresses. – Sara Anne Corrigan, Evansville Courier & Press
