This was a ton of fun. Although the start-time we were given was incorrect (so we got there late), it was still an excellent experience.

My husband and I had a blast. It well exceeded our expectations.

I learned a lot about the paranormal research. The experience would definitely have been better with less people -- blame goes to the Groupon scheduler. I would be interested going on actual investigations to other sites.

The Haunted Cottage, also known as the Booth House, unveils the history and hauntings of Harpers Ferry with evenings of murder-mystery dinner theater where guests investigate the stories behind lingering spirits. Guests will be led from room to room with their hosts, parapsychologist Vince Wilson, psychic researcher Don Wingo, local historian Tamma Wilson, and Casper’s not-so-friendly cousin. As participants wander the house trying to determine who murdered a young woman in 1912, they’ll study suspects’ photos, commune or text with the ghost, and venture into the séance parlor and cellar for final evidence. In addition to the spooktastic hunt, guests can also fill up their bellies with a hot buffet, which may include dishes such as greek lasagna, slow-cooked pot roast, and glazed ham, along with a vegetarian dish.

About The Haunted Cottage

Though spectral forms and shadowy figures still reside in The Haunted Cottage, its greatest legacy is as the occasional vacation home of assassin John Wilkes Booth. Also known as the Booth House, The Haunted Cottage is home to paranormal researcher Vince Wilson, who helms the haunted abode's ghost tours and maintains the paranormal library and history museum, where guests can spy a vampire skeleton among other supernatural exhibits. All this knowledge pours from Vince's mouth during tours and investigations, which pair breakdowns of the house's 200-year history with actual equipment designed to catch ghosts, from cameras and digital recorders to EMF meters.

The Haunted Cottage also strives to school spirit-seekers with paranormal-research training that cycles through parapsychology topics such as extrasensory perception, hypnosis, and psychic healing.
