The Heidelberg Restaurant
A rathskeller is a traditional German beer hall or lounge located in a basement, and in true German fashion, The Heidelberg has one. Down there, everyone from local college students to German diplomats gather to drink from a lengthy beer selection, which includes traditional German lagers, wheat beers, and domestic brews served in glass mugs and towering boots.
Above The Heidelberg's rathskeller, a Bavarian-style dining area invites patrons to nosh on authentic German cuisine, such as saurbraten. For this dish, chefs braise and slow-roast marinated brisket before smothering it in sour gravy and serving it with a loaf of house bread. A third level inside the restaurant hosts poker games, and live entertainment frequently passes through to crank up the already-festive atmosphere.
