Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

What if I want to invite up to 24 guests for the private kids rock-climbing party (15 kids + parents)? Can I buy 2 groupons?

Rhoda J.  asked on  Mar 6, 2014

A:

Unfortunately you cannot, Rhoda. Our maximum for birthday parties is 18 kids (adults can watch but are not part of the parties). If you wish to bring in 15 kids, you certainly can, but you will have to pay regular price for the extra 3 children.

More Questions and Answers

Q:

Just wondering if there is a staff member with the kids during the whole 2 hours of gym time (i.e during the climbing time in addition to the intro/warm-up games time) . I'm concerned that a group of small 7 years olds left to climb on their own would be overwhelmed at the gym if it was busy with older, bigger adults?

Sara Y.  asked on  Mar 9, 2014

A:

Hi Sara, The reason we only offer birthdays Sat & Sun at 9:45-12:15 is that we do not open the gym to the public until 11am on those days. However, there will be an instructor present for the entire 2 hours of climbing time and we do ask some parents to hang out and help supervise (and encourage the kids while climbing).

Q:

Could you have 5 kids and 1 adult as part of the party of 6?

Linda S.  asked on  Mar 8, 2014

A:

Hi Linda, Unfortunately the party is just for kids. However adults are more than welcome to hang out and play games and encourage the kids while climbing. We do ask some parents to be present to help with the supervising. If any adults wish to climb they may buy a day pass.

Q:

Hi DeeDee, according to the merchant's website, their $275 price includes -Supervised games and climbing time for 2 hours. -Climbing shoe rentals and falling assessment. -Use of our multipurpose room, including tables and chairs for the participants, for 30 minutes after climbing time. I find it hard to believe that Hive would charge extra for safety orientation and chalk. So that still doesn't explain the extra $120 value Groupon/Hive is claiming. The same can be asked about the party for 6, which is valued at $210 yet is listed as $150+tax (ie $157.50).

Wendy B.  asked on  Mar 8, 2014

A:

Hi Wendy, Yes, that is correct. However, we were estimating what the price would be if we did not include a packaged deal with a discount on the rentals and safety orientation. The price of the Groupon is not effected. I hope this answers your question.

Q:

how is the party for 12 guests valued at $395 when the Hive's website says $275 + tax (presumably 5% GST), which is $288.75? Does the Groupon deal offer more than the standard party listed on the merchant's website?

Wendy B.  asked on  Mar 7, 2014

A:

Hi Wendy, The valued price of $395 includes the cost of renting shoes and chalk as well as the safety orientation in addition to the standard party fee. The Groupon offers the same great games, activities and instructor-lead climbing as the standard parties.
