Definitely one of the best places in the world to see live comedy. I go every week and it's always an absolute blast. DEFINITELY spring for the dinner before the show to get preferred seating. The food is awesome (try the brisket Ruben!), not expensive ($30 for 2 people) and GREAT service. Drinks inside are great, a little pricey ($25 for 2 drinks) and waitstaff in show room is hit or miss. A++++

We had such a great time. Even though the main showroom was booked, the comedians in the lab were fantastic. Definitely will go again.

In the most recent installment of Consumer Reports, stand-up comedy was named the far superior postural form of comedy, beating out sit-down, lying-on-your-side, spread eagle, Indian-style, running-in-place, crucifixion pose, raised-fist-salute, hunched-over-out-of-breath, kneeling-on-your-right-knee-while-tying-your-left-shoe, Statue of Liberty, King Tut, Napoleon Bonaparte, and the Heisman. The magazine’s editors concluded that other comedy stances proved too distracting and greatly limited the comic’s material (all jokes told in the hunched-over-out-of-breath pose began with “You know how you can tell when you’re overweight…”).

Come see the premier postural form of comedy for 60% off at the Hollywood Improv.

Everyone needs to laugh once or twice, but no more than 10 times in life. Lucky for you, $8 gets you a $20 ticket for select dates at The Hollywood Improv, located at 8162 Melrose Ave. The Hollywood Improv is part of The World Famous Improv, which helped launch the careers of David Spade, Lily Tomlin, Adam Sandler, and Jerry Seinfeld, but did nothing for the careers of Dikembe Mutombo, Toni Morrison, and Bob Ross. Buy a few Groupons and grab some friends because comedians require a copious laughter supply to survive.

Like most comedy clubs, The Hollywood Improv requires a two-item minimum. Check out its extensive menu, which includes the mammoth improv burger (two ground beef patties, garlic mayo, Swiss cheese, and lettuce). Email the club five days before your show to make dinner reservations, which gets you priority seating.

Reviews

Citysearch says, “At the Improv, it’s big-time acts without the big-time attitude of those Sunset Strip clubs. There’s no lining up outside. Enter and have a drink at the warm and inviting bar… The showroom is classic, with the brick wall made famous by years of “Live at the Improv” tapings.” LosAngeles.com says, “Without places like the Hollywood Improv, there would be a little less happiness in the world and probably more violence.”

What do audience members have to say? Yelpers and Citysearchers give it four stars: > * This is by far one of my favorite places to go of all time in the way of entertainment. – Bunny L., Yelp > * Overall a great night, inexpensive fun, top-notch comedians, and a mini-ab workout to boot. – Kelley B., Yelp > * I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to have a good laugh and a great time. Leave the uptight, narrow-minded, conservative types at home where they belong!! – ThatGurrlFromLA, Citysearch

About Hollywood Improv

At the Hollywood Improv, comics lure laughs from deep within bellies as they follow in the footsteps of standup legends such as Ellen DeGeneres, Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, and Dave Chappelle, all of whom have graced the Improv club stages. The club's calendar schedules comedians as often as seven nights a week, alternating between big-name headliners and up-and-coming funsters who tickle funny bones with fresh material, abundant energy, and feathered reflex hammers.
