Photographs provide the only evidence that the past existed, aside from the outdated swear words used by grandparents, such as “huckster” and “aw, chestnuts.” Make history with this Groupon.
Choose from Three Options
- $45 for a three-hour Introduction to Photography Boot Camp (a $99 value)
- $85 for a three-hour Introduction to Photography Boot Camp and a two-hour photowalk (a $199 value)

Photography Boot Camp kicks off at Forsyth Park at 8:45 a.m., with the next three hours devoted to the theory and practice of picture taking, including photo composition and perspective and camera settings such as ISO, f-stop, shutter speed, and exposure. After breaking for lunch, groups join up with those attending only the photowalk, venturing farther into the park to put photographic skills into use with the cameras and manuals students have brought along. Point-and-shoot cameras are welcome, as are more complex SLR cameras.
The weekend-long seminar, scheduled throughout the year, immerses photographers in the antebellum elegance and drama of this old southern city. Friday's adventure begins with afternoon tea, and continues into the early evening with introductions and curriculum overviews. Students will be busy clicking shutters throughout much of the following two days, breaking only for meals (not included with this Groupon). As they walk the cobblestone streets, students will gain a new perspective on lighting, travel photography, and conveying emotion through art as they photograph the Spanish moss on the historic Savannah streets, stroll through Bonaventure Cemetery, or capture wildlife images on Tybee Island. The seminar will also touch on the topics of archiving and enhancing digital images. Overnight accommodations are not included with this Groupon. Click here for a complete schedule of the weekend.
The House of NyghtFalcon
Coming to photography after an eclectic career that has seen him earn a PhD in biblical theology and win a Computerworld Smithsonian medal for contributions to technology, Falcon—The House of NyghtFalcon's founder and head photographer—specializes in emotionally powerful, naturally lit photos that reveal unseen perspectives in familiar sights. His handpicked photographic associates undergo three years of apprenticeship before donning the mantle of full partner. Basic and advanced seminars mix photographic theory with hands-on learning, teaching students how to master cameras' arcane functions, frame shots, and determine the shutter speed at which time folds back in on itself.
