About The Lake House Restaurant and Lodge
The Lake House Restaurant and Lodge has been plying visitors with traditional steakhouse fare and a place to rest their heads since 1843, making it one of the oldest continuously operating establishments in Cooperstown. The lodge has been updated over the years, but it still has managed to hold on to a lot of antique pieces, including the Milton baby grand piano that was unveiled at the lodge in 1913. Local musicians play the piano to this day, filling the lodge with the sounds of Americana and such composers as Burt Bacharach and Cole Porter.
Music has always been important to The Lake House, and it even hosted the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra once, a band whose lead singer was a blue-eye crooner known as Frank Sinatra. Nowadays, it puts on outdoor concerts by Canadarago Lake, which guests can enjoy after dining on steaks, seafood, and chops in the restaurant.
