The Laurel Leaf’s talented instructors guide students through the fundamentals of numerous modes of self-expression, including the delicate art of stained glass. During the four-hour intro course, the studio equips up to 10 students with all the materials necessary to fashion shimmering works of art. Amateur artisans cut glass with grinders, ring saws, and well-placed karate chops before arranging pieces within their frames with copper foil and lead-free solder. Students can create their own simple pattern or build one of several beginner designs available in the studio. At the end of each workshop, each pupil leaves with a stunning 8"x10" stained-glass creation of his or her own that can be easily hung in the foyer or secret passageway. Each lesson includes a midday break for a 30-minute lunch, be it a brown-bag special or wares from the nearby restaurants in the historic Leiper's Fork area.
