- $79 for a mozzarella-making and organic butter-making class for two ($158 value)
Local chefs and a cheese monger teach students to make mozzarella and organic butter. Students choose various ingredients to infuse into their cheese and butter and take home all of the fresh food they make during the class.
The Local Epicurean
At The Local Epicurean, owner Ryan Raredon, who has been profiled in the Grand Rapids Press, began pasta-making as a hobby. But his handmade pastas and seasonings soon became so popular at local farmers’ markets that he was inspired to open his own store. Beyond pasta, today the space is filled with fine infused oils, cheeses, breads, and other sundries that make customers' pasta feasts all the more special.
But the store is more than just a point of sale for artisanal foods. A chocolate lounge area is filled with selections of cocoa-based confections and organic coffees and teas where guests can sit and peacefully sip. There's even a space for classes where students meet to learn the fine art of pasta-making, with pasta flavors varying based on seasonality and the commands of a magic 8 ball.

“The pasta making class was a lot of fun, and we enjoyed our ravioli for dinner. Our groupon included a bottle of wine which we were not able to get due to the fact the store's liquor license has not transferred from their previous location. But they did give us a generous in store credit instead. Very friendly staff!”
“Great experience. I did this with my daughter for her 13th birthday and she had so much fun making ravioli. And so did I!”
“Interesting selection of goods”
