We attended the Asian Noodle Class and overall it was great. My only complaint is that our noodles turned out very doughy and a big clump amidst our otherwise great stir-fry. You could blame user error except that it appeared everyone else in the group had similar results. Past reviews indicate similar experiences and I wonder why something can't be altered to make the noodles more fool-proof?

It was very fun making the ravioli with my 16 ye old grandson. Yummy food too. Thought we’d be eating the ravioli but we got to bring that home. Fun experience!

The place is super fun, the portions could be a smidge larger. For the area there isn’t any thing like it (with the exception of the downtown market;-) The food seems authentic, and the hosts have decent explanations. So to wrap it up, if you truly want to have a fun date night, try this out with a group of couples. PS NO Booze!!!

About The Local Epicurean

At The Local Epicurean, owner Ryan Raredon, who has been profiled in the Grand Rapids Press, began pasta-making as a hobby. But his handmade pastas and seasonings soon became so popular at local farmers’ markets that he was inspired to open his own store. Beyond pasta, today the space is filled with fine infused oils, cheeses, breads, and other sundries that make customers' pasta feasts all the more special.

But the store is more than just a point of sale for artisanal foods. A chocolate lounge area is filled with selections of cocoa-based confections and organic coffees and teas where guests can sit and peacefully sip. There's even a space for classes where students meet to learn the fine art of pasta-making, with pasta flavors varying based on seasonality and the commands of a magic 8 ball.
