Our fingers and toes help us accomplish vital daily tasks such as flossing, wearing flip-flops, and massaging peanuts until they let out their butters. Give your peanut tenderizers a buff with today's Groupon for a mani-pedi at either of The Nail Shop's two locations on Grand Avenue in Grand Lake or in Walnut Creek. Choose from the following options:
- For $12, you get a standard manicure and pedicure (a $28 value).
- For $25, you get the Grand Luxe, a deluxe manicure and deluxe pedicure (a $50 value).
The Nail Shop's signature finger- and toe-helmet-buffing procedure covers all the keratin bases. Cuticles become cute, nail edges assume supple shapes, nails don bright glossy new coats, and hands and feet are gently kneaded, like hard-boiled eggs under the Easter Bunny's paw. The deluxe version of the pedicure incorporates an exfoliating aloe-vera pumice scrub and a tingly peppermint masque and elegantly extends the hoof-rub to ten mollycoddling minutes, scented with the lotion of your choice. The deluxe manicure also ups the phalange-ante, sloughing off dead skin with a crystalline citrus rub and nourishing it from roof to basement with vitamin E cream. Both deluxe procedures are concluded with a warm towel wrap.
Because The Nail Shop caters specifically to nail needs, both shops are artfully arranged for ease of toe and finger waving and wiggling. At the Walnut Creek boutique, guests lounge in bright white wheely chairs and gaze at ornate patterns in gleaming gold wallpaper; the Oakland location charms with stately high ceilings and royal purple curtains. Making an appointment, like wearing chain mail while wrestling a bear, is highly recommended but not required.
Reviews
The Nail Shop was named Best Nail Shop by Oakland magazine. Examiner also named it one of the best East Bay nail salons. While Yelpers give the Walnut Creek location an average of 2.5 stars and have mixed opinions on the business's service, Yelpers give the Oakland location an average of three stars and praise the costs.
- An Oakland staple when you mention the words “the nail shop” everyone knows what you're talking about. The Nail Shop is an almost always busy and bustling nail shop, but the atmosphere is nothing like some of the “hole in the wall” shops that are near the Grand Ave location. This salon is male friendly, and specializes in the classic manicure/pedicure. – Kasey Ellison, Examiner
