The No.1 Currywurst Truck of Los Angeles
Germany transplant Chris Töpperwien travels around Los Angeles in his food truck, doling out the type of food frequently found on the streets in his native Cologne. The namesake dish is one of Germany's favorite fast foods, one that even has a museum dedicated to it in Berlin. The truck's version featured chopped, grilled bratwurst smothered in curry ketchup and topped with curry powder.
No. 1 also introduces locals to other German street foods, including Berlin-style doner kebabs and Polish kielbasa. Los Angeles magazine praised the kielbasa roll, saying: "The bun was crisp and warm, the sauerkraut was perfectly sautéed, and the mustard had just enough kick. As for the sausage, it was juicy, well-seasoned, and the portion size didn’t make us feel like we had to crawl back to our desk."
