What You'll Get
Welcome to Groupon, Winnipeg! For our inaugural deal, $8 gets you $20 worth of contemporary café cuisine and drinks for dinner at The Oakwood Café, located at 660 Osborne Street. Since this is everyone's first Groupon, allow us to briefly explain how it works.
How Groupon Works
Groupon is a combination of the words group and coupon. Each day, we offer an unbeatable deal on the best of Winnipeg: restaurants, spas, sporting events, theatre, and more. By promising businesses a minimum number of customers, we get discounts you won't find anywhere else. We call it "collective buying power."
If you want to get the deal, just click BUY before the offer ends at midnight. If the minimum number of people (25 for today's deal) sign up by the end of the day, you'll be emailed a gift certificate the next morning. You can print your Groupons or redeem them with our mobile app. Use them whenever you want until the deal expires—today's expires in one year. If not enough people join, no one gets the deal (and you won't be charged), so invite your friends to make sure you get the discount!
Eating while riding horseback was pioneered by the efficient Mongols, who also adjusted to reading, receiving haircuts, and filling out their taxes atop their four-legged mobiles. Enjoy the convenience of chairs and tables with today’s Groupon: for $8, you get $20 worth of contemporary café fare and drinks for dinner at The Oakwood Café, located on Osborne Street. Today's Groupon is only good for dinner, which begins at 4:30 p.m., though customers are welcome to order The Oakwood's lunch items during the dinner hour.
The Oakwood Café's menu administers an array of options for filling up stomach holes in a wholesome, tasty manner. Commence consumption with an aromatic salad, such as the heart-healthy grilled-salmon salad ($13.29), or incisor-attack the Oakwood chicken-breast sandwich ($11.99), in which thin sheets of ham stand alert atop a tender chicken foundation adorned, like a haute-couture foodie, with a hat of melted cheddar, fresh tomato, and crisp lettuce. The beef stroganoff ($17.99) proves a hearty load as strips of beef rest regally atop a throne of fettuccine luxurified in a sherry and mushroom sauce, and the hamburger steak ($15.99) sears a sizable meatberg until it buzzes with juicy flavour, like an alarm clock made of tropical gossip.
A bounty of potted plants, deep-red window curtains, and festively garnished tables cordially contribute to The Oakwood Café's casual, upbeat environment. A friendly staff and an open, airy vibe ensure your experience will be more enjoyable than finding a $5 bill in last winter's old pair of parachute pants.
