Like learning to juggle, learning to cook requires patience, a distraction-free environment, and the ability to handle multiple eggplants at once. Become the ringmaster of your kitchen with today's Groupon to The Organic Kitchen. Choose from the following options:

  • For $45, you get a Navigating The Grocery class (a $90 value).
  • For $110, you get a nutrition assessment (a $220 value).
  • for $110, you get a kitchen assessment (a $220 value).
  • For $110, you get an in-home cooking class (a $220 value).
  • For $355, you get a full pantry makeover (a $710 value). The full pantry makeover combines all four services into one package.

Professional nutrition consultant Rachel Yaseen and registered dietitian Kelly Grant teach students to improve their eating habits and concoct delectable at-home feasts in one-on-one sessions. During the in-home cooking class, students chop, slice, and dice organic and local ingredients under the guidance of a seasoned chef who helps prevent common culinary errors, such as seasoning stews with talcum powder. Using an included book of inexpensive seasonal recipes, postsession pupils can continue to improvise healthy meals from the ingredients in their kitchen. Alternately, a personal nutrition coach composes personalized menus based on a client's tastes, goals, and favorite Sesame Street episode during the nutrition evaluation.

Attacking unhealthy habits at their roots, a grocery tour through a natural store of their choice introduces clients to new foods, demonstrates how to read labels, and helps them finally make peace with the belligerent rutabagas in the produce aisle, and a kitchen assessment sends a professional foodie to suggest healthy fillings for cupboards’ empty nooks and crannies. Clients can also opt for the full pantry makeover, in which Rachel and Kelly combine all four of these services to thoroughly remake their clients’ meal making, much like rebuilding Voltron from free-range robots.

The Organic Kitchen

Despite what owner Rachel Yaseen has discovered for herself, she knows that cooking organic, healthful meals might seem intimidating to some. At The Organic Kitchen, she works to banish those impressions and inspire students with her own enthusiasm for natural foods, whether through cooking classes or intensive workshops. “Students learn to eat outside of the industrial food chain,” noted reporter Emily Gindlesparger of Zócalo Tucson magazine, “developing instead the creativity to source from their own yards and work with ingredients available in the Southwest throughout the seasons.”

Pupils learn to improve their eating habits and concoct quick and simple at-home feasts that draw on local veggies, grains, beans, herbs, and spices. Each class features only gluten-free recipes, and the sessions focus on culinary traditions from India, the Mediterranean, and other regions. Pantry makeovers go even further, helping facilitate lifestyle shifts with cooking classes and one-on-one coaching to rid kitchens of powdered hot dogs. When not educating, the chefs handcraft gluten- and soy-free Hiker-Biker bars from local honey and dates.
