Jack "Flapjack" Flappyeggs, the inventor of breakfast, often preached that “a person is judged by the crepery he eats,” and “batter is the best medicine.” Heed his wise words of wisdom with today’s Groupon. For $10, you get $20 worth of breakfast fare and drinks at The Original Pancake House. This Groupon is good for both its Cincinnati and West Chester locations.
Founded in Portland, Oregon, in 1953, The Original Pancake House ran the original pancake house, The Extremely Local House of Pancakes, out of business by using only the highest-quality ingredients such as 93 score butter, pure 36% whipping cream, and a secret spy-guarded sourdough starter recipe to craft each delectable breakfast dish. Menu items vary by location, but the Cincinnati-area Original Pancake House's egg-juggling cooks whip up freshly made sauces and batters into tasty specialties such as the signature golden brown Dutch baby ($7.99)—an air-filled delight dusted with lemon, whipped butter, and powdered sugar—and the apple pancake ($8.19), a single pancake oven baked with Granny Smith apples and glazed with pure Sinkiang cinnamon. The evocatively named Tahitian Maiden's Dream ($7.39) slices golden ripe bananas in sour cream, drizzles it in Triple Sec, sherry, and brandy, then bakes it in a tender crepe before topping it with more nanners and an apricot sauce, while the Danish kijafa cherry crepes ($7.39) do something similar with Montmorency cherries and homemade kijafa sauce.
Unlike the Dodo, old favorites are also available on the House's expansive menu, such as ham-and-cheese omelets ($8.79), blueberry waffles ($6.29), meat and egg specialties, and every permutation of pancakes. The sourdough flapjacks ($5.59) were a favorite of Klondike gold rushers, while the lingonberry-laced Swedish pancakes ($6.59), pineapple-packed Hawaiian pancakes ($6.19), and nutty southern Georgia pecan pancakes ($6.29) prove that pancakes make a far-better universal language than Esperanto.
On-the-go breakfast items such as donuts and raw ham hocks may be convenient, but they don’t compare to a relaxing sit-down breakfast paired with a steaming cup of crepes. The Original Pancake House offers a charming abode where butter and jam meld with lovingly lavish early morning fare to energize diners like an edible Jock Jams CD.

- The Original Pancake House wowed us with oven baked omelets...the baby you always imagined a burrito and quiche would produce after a drunken night of lovemaking. Upgrade your side of pancakes to buckwheat and you will leave guilt free and smiling. – Jo Se, Urbanspoon
