What You'll Get
Actors have a full range of superstitious pre-show rituals, from tarring and feathering the first person to say “good luck” to prank-calling the prime minister of Japan. Enjoy the thespian rewards of these rituals with today’s Groupon, which gets you one regular seating ticket to the MCC Theater production of The Other Place at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. A highly regarded off-Broadway company, the MCC Theater showcases acclaimed productions and premieres new works by emerging playwrights. Tony Award-winning director Joe Mantello helms a thriller starring Emmy-winner Laurie Metcalf, who plays a research scientist investigating her own unstable memories after a chance sighting of a mysterious woman. Wordsmith Sharr White, the recipient of a 2006 New York Foundation for the Arts Fellowship, provides the script, as well as tasting notes on its complex flavor and inky nose. A skillful cast includes Broadway veterans Dennis Boutsikaris and John Schiappa and stage-and-television performer Aya Cash, providing enough star-wattage to effectively melt the theatrical fourth wall.
MCC Theater offers $20 tickets to patrons under the age of 30 in limited quantities for each performance. Be sure to check online availability to ensure you're getting the best deal.
MCC Theater has been featured in the New York Times. More than 1,400 Facebookers like MCC Theater, seven Facebook reviewers give it an average of four stars, and more than 7,000 Twitter users follow it.
- All in all, I enjoyed the experience and would love to see ALL of the actors do another play together sometime in the near future simply because I think the chemistry was amazing and the play well performed. – Michelle H., Facebook
- It's so nice to go to the theater and not have your intelligence insulted. – Richard A., Facebook

About MCC Theater
Liev Schreiber. Laurie Metcalf. David Duchovny. Kathleen Turner. These are just a handful of the lauded actors who have graced MCC Theater's productions throughout the years. Surprisingly, the company didn't start with its eyes trained on the stars with the highest wattage—the founders came together in 1986 to create a workshop-like space to develop their own artistic voices as actors, directors, and writers. After the peer-led classes proved fruitful, they staged showcases and later full-scale off-Broadway productions that attracted the talents of renowned artists. Today, MCC continues to produce buzzed-about works that tackle ethical dilemmas and world premieres by playwrights on the rise.
