Q:

My 10 year old daughter and I are coming to Seattle in June and I think she would love the Lopez Island tour. Can you tell me the options for getting to the launch from the ferry dock? Due to car ride costs I'd rather not take our rental car. Can we rent bicycles or take a taxi?

Vikki G.  asked on  Feb 18, 2013

A:

Hi Vikki. Great question. We have listed some options for transportation to/from Lopez on our website (see link below) but basically your options would be drive on (ferry rates are round-trip), bring your bikes and ride the easy 4 miles to/from the State Park, or make arrangements with the Lopez taxi service (follow link for the phone number). http://outdooradventurecenter.com/products-page-2/adventure-tours/lopez-island-3-hour-sea-kayak-tour/

Q:

Not a strong swimmers and my spouse and I have never been in a kayak before - do we paddle together or do we get paired with an experienced kayaker - considering the Lopez Island tour.

Dan B.  asked on  Feb 16, 2013

A:

Hi Dan. Our Lopez Island 3 Hr Tour is designed with the beginning paddler in mind. You'll most likely be in a double kayak, and after a brief lesson from your guides you'll be ready to go! We have beginners on nearly every tour, and will make sure that you are comfortable before launching. Q:

do you have tours during the week? our weekend is tues and wed...

marilee w.  asked on  Feb 15, 2013

A:

Hi Marilee. Our Lopez Island Kayak Tour is available on Thur-Monday during the busy summer months (but generally not available on Tues/Wed). The Redhook Kayak Tour in Woodinville is available Thurs-Sun and we offer an evening trip on the weekends that might work for you.

Q:

My girlfriend has never been in a kayak before. Do you provide any type of instruction before the Redmond to Redhook 90 minute tour? The two of us would be sharing a double kayak.

Kris H.  asked on  Feb 15, 2013

A:

Hi Kris. Thanks for asking! Your guides will give a brief introduction to the area and some tips for beginning paddlers prior to the start of the trip. We have new paddlers on every tour, and will make sure she is comfortable.

Q:

Re: outdoor adventure Center kayak tour.. does the $45 cover a double kayak for 2 people? or do you have to buy two vouchers to get a double kayak for kid and parent?

Christy S.  asked on  Feb 14, 2013

A:

Hi Christy. Great question - thanks for checking. You will need to purchase 1 voucher for each person. Then redeem your vouchers for the same tour date/time, and you'll be paddling buddies!

Kathy  from  Merchant  replied on  Feb 14, 2013

A:

Just to clarify... the $45 option is a single ticket (1 person) and new this year is the $89 "pair" option which is a for 2 people. EXAMPLE A family of 3 could purchase (3) individual vouchers for $45 each, ...or (1) individual voucher for $45 + (1) Pair for $89

Q:

It looks like it says that you can only use 1 voucher oer visit. Does that mean if we buy 4 that we can't all use our groupon at the same time for the same trip?

Jackie D.  asked on  Feb 14, 2013

A:

Hi Jackie. The fine print sounds a little confusing, so that's a good question. You can use all of the vouchers that you and your friends have to come out paddling together. Each person in your group may use one voucher per visit (everyone that has a voucher, or would like to purchase a ticket, can come together as a group). The "one voucher per visit" is referring to deals for goods I believe, such as candy or flowers. Reservations are required for all adventures, so coordinate schedules with your family, then redeem your vouchers online at www.OutdoorAdventureCenter.com
