In addition to being the first people to combine tomato sauce with pasta, Italians are also responsible for the breathtaking frescos found on Leonardo da Vinci's forehead. Celebrate Italian innovation with today’s Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of Italian cuisine at The Red Pepper in Summerville.
The Red Pepper slices up and serves a menu of authentic Italian favorites along with unique culinary creations. Diners on pre-movie dates or auditioning a stunt double can begin their foray into old-world flavor with the gorgonzola bread, an italian baguette under a blanket of gorgonzola cheese, or the cozze fra diavolo, which bathes premium mussels in spicy pomodoro sauce. Entree-sized appetites are greeted by the filetto al marsala con funghi, two seared beef fillet medallions doused in classic mushroom-and-marsala sauce. Meanwhile, the fettuccine bianco suplexes tongues with a tag team of scallops and shrimp, covered in lobster-cream sauce, before slamming taste buds onto turnbuckles of fettuccine pasta. Explore a garden of flavor without competing with vicious rabbits by plating the spinach con fungi, its fresh spinach sautéed in olive oil with mushrooms on fettuccine pasta, or nosh on the chicken or salmon caesar salads. Diners may peruse the wine and beer menu for a beverage to complement dinner.
Customers can file onto The Red Pepper's covered porch and dilate their nostrils in the evening air or slide their knees under the wooden tables of the dining area. The warmly lit interiors and high-backed booths create a cozy atmosphere, marked by exposed brick and wooden walls, rustic furniture, and Italian-themed décor.
The Red Pepper
The Red Pepper is an Italian eatery with rich roots. Owner Fred White first learned the ropes of the restaurant business at his grandmother's Italian restaurant in Rochester, New York, mastering the art of crafting sweets and savories from fresh ingredients such as tomatoes, basil, and ricotta cheese. He went on to open lauded eateries across the country, then settled with his family in the Charleston area and opened The Red Pepper in Summerville. Here, locals relish hoagies, pizzas, and other sumptuous New York–style Italian food. Red umbrellas and baskets of flowers dot an outdoor patio, drawing diners into the fresh air for alfresco meals and drinks.
