Parking was adequate, should really have a valet service for the fee we paid. The romance package was sad, just don't bother! On the whole it was a nice night away. Newspaper and coffee service would be a nice addition.

Romantic getaways to hotels help couples reignite flames so that they can roast marshmallows before bed and forget about creepy texts from cryptic candy hearts. Dial amore with today's Groupon for a romantic one-night stay, champagne, and more at The Redmont Hotel in downtown Birmingham. Choose between the following room options, based on availability:

  • For $119, you get a deluxe-suite romance package (a $239 value).
  • For $99, you get a deluxe-king-room romance package (a $199 value).

With spacious rooms and amenities such as free WiFi and a fitness center, the elegant Redmont offers romantic getaways for special occasions such as Valentine's Day and Alfred Hitchcock's birthday. Luxurious loungers can kick back in one of the hotel's five expansive deluxe suites, each with a king-size bed, a wet bar, double vanities, a stand-alone shower, and a sit-together couch in the separate living room. Those seeking a more modest level of indulgence can opt for the deluxe king room, with high-quality linens bedecking a pillow-top mattress, a flat-screen TV, and an iPod docking station ideal for when music boxes return from trips aboard Christopher Cross's yacht. Each romance package also includes a bottle of champagne with two champagne flutes, chocolate-covered strawberries, a continental breakfast, and a complimentary airport shuttle. If booked for Friday, Feb. 11, those bitten by feral cupids will receive roses and a Valentine's reception from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the hotel's rooftop bar, Above. Those booking a room on any other available date will receive a waived cover charge at Above and a 2 p.m. checkout.

The Redmont's historical building, updated with modern finishes and furniture, bestows an opulent ambience in each adorned space, from the marble lobby to the uniquely decorated rooms. Originally the hotel penthouse, Above boasts outdoor seating overlooking the downtown area and Birmingham skyline. For those arriving by car or hovercraft, the hotel offers free parking on the weekends.

Breakfast was very poor and the roof top bar was poor as well. We had a good time overall( strawberries and champagne were very good), but the hotel was less than I expected. I would recommend the hotel in specific circumstances, but don't think I would stay there again.

Beautiful structure, friendly staff, however the room was not very clean and could use some updating. Thank you.

The woman at the front desk was wonderful, but we never received the champagne or strawberries after we asked for them several times. The woman at the bar on the rooftop was also very nice.
