About The Revival
The Revival began in 2015, but its roots run all the way back to the 1950s. That's when improvisation, the comedic art form that creates off-the-cuff scenes from audience suggestions, made its debut in The Revival's Hyde Park neighborhood. First a one-off third act by the theatrical group The Compass Players, improv quickly grew into its own entity, jump-starting the careers of Elaine May and Mike Nichols and inspiring the founding of The Second City.
The Revival brings improv back to its beginnings by instilling its principles of spontaneity and teamwork. And, yes, there will be yes, and-ing. Each week, Chicago-improv-trained instructors lead students through team exercises, games, and scenes that build self-confidence and encourage self-expression.
