The BYOB cooking class features hands-on demonstrations from the chef, who helps students make salsas, hot sauces, and guacamole. The event culminates in a taco feast.
The Salsa Truck
The bright red body of The Salsa Truck can be seen traveling from neighborhood to neighborhood, always followed by the aromas of roasted peppers and fresh citrus. Every day, the on-board cooks prepare more than 12 house-made salsas, ranging from roasted serrano-and-pineapple to seasonal guacamole. Though these can be eaten by themselves, they're best paired with tacos and quesadillas stuffed with shredded pork shoulder, marinated shrimp, or fresh, lime-seasoned vegetables. The menu changes seasonally, with the addition of fresh salads in summer and zesty soups in winter.
When the Salsa Truck leaves the streets, it returns to the Garage—a multi-purpose industrial space. Here, cooks serve up their signature Mexican-inspired fare as well as dishes fit to the night's chosen culinary theme, whether local favorites or Mediterranean recipes. This space also doubles as a shop, where the Truck's owners display their bottled sauces and marinades alongside racks of their favorite records.
