Smithsonian Chamber Music Society's 39th season features musical masterpieces from the 17th to the early 20th century, played on some of the world's most highly prized musical instruments in this six-concert series. For this concert at the National Museum of American History, the Castle Trio and friends pay tribute to two of the best-loved piano quintets in the classical repertoire, (both of which happen to have been composed during the 19th century): Dvorak's Piano Quintet in A Major and Brahms' Piano Quintet in F Minor. Comprising the Castle Trio are Lambert Orkis on piano, Marilyn McDonald on violin, and Kenneth Slowik on violoncello. They're joined by friends Mayumi Seiler on violin and Gregory Luce on viola. Come early to hear SCMS artistic director Kenneth Slowik shed light on the lives and times of the featured composers and their glorious music.
