Warm soup can bring back memories, such as treating childhood ailments with a bowl of chicken noodle or expressing childhood anger with a bowl of split pea and Mom's new rug. Modulate your emotions with today's Groupon: for $5, you get $10 worth of soups, sandwiches, and salads at The Soup Kitchen, at its Lexington location only.
The Soup Kitchen's small family of stew shops has been stirring up soups, breads, sandwiches, salads, and desserts from scratch for nearly three decades. Their menu draws eight slurpable selections daily from a soup list presenting such potions as a large seashore chowder ($4.45) or small burgundy mushroom ($3.75). Those who prefer working their jaws on less-liquid mélanges can choose a large chillios chili blanketed in cheese and studded with chips ($5.25). Four to six varieties of homemade bread emerge from the oven each day in 5-ounce loaves of orange poppy seed, cinnamon pecan, mexican cornbread, and more, and can be easily slipped into coat pockets as edible hand-warmers, ($1.15). Savory varieties form a cushiony casing for sandwich stuffers of your choice, such as a classic turkey and swiss served with chips ($4.89), which provides a belly base for an end-of-meal cream puff or slice of Mississippi mud pie ($3.25 each).
The Soup Kitchen
The Soup Kitchen takes good old-fashioned soup and crusty bread to the next level. Over the last 28 years, pot-stirring chefs have diligently perfected their recipes for more than 125 soups, a handful of which are available every day alongside fresh-baked bread. Deli sandwiches, salads, and sides are also available, such as loaded potato salads, fresh-sliced pastrami sandwiches, and grape-pecan chicken salad.
