What You'll Get
There are 228,132 words in the Oxford English Dictionary – but not nearly enough to name every experience. There are 3,000 shades on the Pantone Color Chart – but not nearly enough to match every mood. There are 80 musical notes that the human ear can hear – but not nearly enough to give voice to every emotion. Only one medium is expressive enough, dynamic enough, capacious enough, to capture fully the complexity of the human experience: Dance. And now an acclaimed quartet of choreographers presents Four in Motion, an evening of new works created specifically for the Southern Theater. Gadu presents an absurdist and provocative Butoh solo, “Here Cometh Balloon Man.” Kaleena Miller’s “Door Won’t Close,” explores clutter and conflict while Justin Jones’ “The Best Practice” proposes an equalization of rehearsal and performance. And, finally, Pramila Vasudevan collaborates with Dustin Maxwell on the revelatory “Headroom.”
