A Chat with The Stables at Brush Creek
What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition?
The Stables at Brush Creek operates in a Christian atmosphere that is family friendly. We encourage teamwork and involvement with every aspect of the horse’s care. This is a place where you can drop your kids off on a Sunday afternoon and they will learn about horses and make new friends.
What’s one tip for first-time students that will make them feel like veterans?
We like to have new students come to the barn and watch a lesson, meet the horse they will ride, and have a chance to ask any questions. We recommend that riders come in jeans or breeches, solid soled shoes or boots with a small heel. No tennis shoes, please. We will provide the helmet.
What was the inspiration to start or run this business?
We love horses for starters! I also grew up in a non-horsey family and was limited in my involvement for a long time because the sport can be expensive. I had a trainer that believed in me and made it possible for me to pursue riding, and so I feel strongly about making riding accessible to everyone.
What do you love most about your job?
I love being able to work within my passion. I love to see the sunrise on horseback while working my first horse of the day. I love to see little kids fall in love with riding the first time they sit on a horse. The first time a student wins a blue ribbon at a show also ranks high on my list.
