Due to gravity, non-aquatic animals are limited to a single-dimensional plane of movement, with the exception of birds who have learned to burrow. Watch animals float up the z-axis with today’s Groupon to The Suncor Energy Fluvarium. Choose between the following options:
- For $6, you get two admissions (up to a $14 value).
- For $10, you get admission for a family of four (a $20 value).<p>
The Suncor Energy Fluvarium’s panoramic windows peer into Nagle’s Hill Brook, an open tributary of Rennie’s River, showcasing a typically hidden subaqueous society. Local brown trout swish by the nine panoramic windows to show off their scales and challenge visitors to gravity-free break dance battles. Creatures can move freely in and out of the tributary, swimming out to visit a neighbouring area or taking off to attend a 10-year fish-school reunion in the Atlantic. The centre also displays aquariums housing freshwater fish and amphibians from the areas surrounding Newfoundland and Labrador, including Atlantic salmon, American eels, wood frogs, and green frogs. The second level hosts an array of interactive exhibits that demystify wetland ecology, water-monitoring techniques, and cheat codes for Marco Polo.
The Suncor Energy Fluvarium holds Fluvarium Kids–a 45-minute program which entertains kids with a games, story time, and arts and crafts–on either Saturday or Sunday at 1:30 p.m. It is recommended to call ahead to preregister for this event.
