The Temple Bar
On the corner of Ashland and Wellington sits the Temple Bar, a beacon of Celtic refreshment as red as a tomato drinking a Killian's. Inside the Irish pub, low lighting illuminates exposed brick, wooden tables topped with hearty pub food, and a draft fountain packing Smithwick's, Guinness, Harp, and Magners Irish Cider.
Though boisterous good times are to be had any time the doors open, the best time to visit might be during a high-stakes soccer game—depending on your loyalties. The Temple Bar is considered the unofficial home of Manchester United in Chicago, as Manchester United Fans of Chicago set up camp at the pub for every match, and there's always a cot behind the bar in case Sir Alex needs to pop in for a nap.
