Sometimes you want to go where everybody knows your name—and sometimes you want to go where everybody wants to know your name. Achieve the latter with today's deal to The Town Pump Tavern. For $15, you get $30 worth of savory pub grub and drinks for dine-in or carryout. Nestled in the downtown theater and entertainment district, Town Pump offers regular specials and happy hours every day, and today's Groupon is valid for each one. There's a limit of one Groupon per table of six, but one Groupon is enough to buy you and five friends a beer and a burger during the daily lunch special.

The Town Pump Tavern's menu boasts pint pairings such as the Black and Blue Bites (wonton-wrapped infusion of roasted red peppers, blue cheese, and blackened chicken served with a side of ranch and toughness, $7) or a refreshingly crisp order of fried pickles ($4). Heartier options include the toasted-rye Reuben ($7) or brow-dripping half-pound Firehouse Burger complete with Cajun seasoning and fresh jalapeños ($7.75). Come rain, meteor shower, or impromptu spelling bee, happy hour runs seven days a week with the exception of December 25. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., guests can meet up with friends, enjoy dollar food items, and hitch a ride on the free Red Wings shuttle to home games.

Remaining true to its classic appeal, Town Pump Tavern marries tin ceilings and a wood-lined interior, wrapped safely away behind the resilient ivy-lined exterior. On the street level of what was once the Royal Palm Hotel, the pub oozes a history that began with the building's construction in the 1940s. If these walls could talk, they'd probably nag customers into giving them a French fry.

  • There is something special about the corner pub - the familiarity, the vibe, the atmosphere. A good one is a true find, like an oasis in the desert, quenching your thirst and appetite right when you need it most. For more than a decade, the Town Pump Tavern has been that diamond in the rough, the downtown neighborhood bar – no matter where you live. – VATO, Metromix

  • A landmark in Detroit, the Town Pump never fails to serve up tasty beer (and drinks and food) along with a great time! 18 beers on tap, with even more in bottles. – Leslie, CityVoter
  • The interior of the place is awesome...very old fashioned and filled with antiques...The drink prices were really, really inexpensive, much to my surprise... This was one of the best bar experiences I've ever had. – Natalie D., Yelp
  • The Town Pump has always been one of the most fun spots in Detroit. Every time we go for "one" we end up with a lot more...I love this bar. Good food too. – Thirsty, Metromix
