You can feel the desert’s lonely expanse in Giant Sand’s atmospheric music. Led by singer-songwriter Howe Gelb, the band has produced minimal psychedelic rock music since the mid-‘80s. Constant experimenters, Giant Sand’s spare, haunting sound draws from the traditional music of America, evoking the desert landscapes of their home in Tucson. The new album Heartbreak Pass marks the band’s 30th anniversary and features appearances from Jason Lytle, John Parish, Steve Shelley and other rock ‘n’ roll luminaries. Gabriel Sullivan and Brian Lopez open up the show at the Triple Door.
