The ever-inventive Third Coast Percussion, those "savvy and hyper-talented young percussionists" (Musical Toronto), paradiddle into the International House at the University of Chicago. Hailed as "vibrant" and "superb" by The New Yorker, this group has been gaining a steady following of fans ever since forming over a decade ago. Known for their innovative use of non-traditional "instruments," Third Coast Percussion brings to this performance the idea of using a single type of material for some of the songs. So, for instance, a song from Belgian composer Thierry De Mey is recreated with no more than a wood table. Prepare to have your perception of percussion blown away at this lively concert.
