Founded in Lubeck in 1989 and now based in Berlin, the Artemis Quartet is one of Europe's leading string quartets, renowned for their interpretations of Beethoven and other classical masters. Now these peerless performers from Germany are introducing their newest member -- Chicago native Anthea Kreston -- with this concert at Mandel Hall (the quartet's Chicago debut). Hailed for their "fullness of sound, delineated structure and unparalleled drama" (Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung), the Artemis Quartet will perform a program that includes Wolf, Janacek and Beethoven.
