Fresh pastas include fettuccine alfredo ($13.95), while the decadent Genoese pork chop arrives stuffed with Italian sausage and mozzarella, and drizzled with a creamy pesto sauce ($21.95). Mesquite-broiled dishes include the mouth-melting salmon fillet draped with lemon-dill butter ($24.95), as well as a signature pound-and-a-half cut of juicy porterhouse steak ($47.95), a dish so manly its eaters have been known to spontaneously sprout luxurious Tom Selleck mustaches.
Built in 1915 as part of the Japanese exhibition at the Panama Pacific International Exposition, The Van's historical interior boasts a quaint, retro atmosphere. Grab a window seat during lunch or dinner to dreamily gaze upon the panoramic view of San Francisco Bay, or pre-nosh at the complimentary hors d'oeuvres buffet Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Reservations are recommended, so call ahead or send word by boxcar children.
