The Velvet Glove
As a child, Eraj "E" Jayawickreme didn't much care for cartoons—instead, he watched cooking shows. As he grew, so did his passion for food and flavor, and by the age of 15 the Torontonian ecstatically snapped up a job as a third cook at the King Edward Hotel. In the years since he's come into his own, cementing himself as one of Canada's renowned chefs while catering events such as the Toronto International Film Festival and the Toronto Jazz Festival. It's fitting, then, that E has taken the reins of The Velvet Glove. His menus walk a fascinating line between inventive and familiar.
