About The Victorian House

Built in 1902, The Victorian House has been called one of the country's finest examples of Queen Anne Revival architecture. However, this home isn't just historical due to its looks—it also serves as an example of the modern conveniences that debuted at the turn of the century. Wealthy Cleveland industrialist L.H. Brightman ensured that his home included central heating, an intercom system, a shower, chandeliers designed for gas and electric power, and a basement sauna and steam room.

After being wowed by the grand white-oak staircase and the 28 rooms, visitors pore over a collection of historical artifacts and curious Victoriana curated by the Holmes County Historical Society. In addition to being home to historical buildings such as this one, the county is also the site of one of the world's largest Amish communities.
