Relive the camaraderie of 4-H Club, marching band, and Latin Honors Society without the snobbish competition, "accidental" spit-valve mishaps, and verb conjugating contests with today's deal: for $75, you get a one-year dinner membership at The Warren City Club(a $200 value), plus $25 toward dinner and drinks at the handsome Virginia Highlands hideaway. The Warren collects a variety of Best of Citysearch awards to go with its tasty cuisine and exclusive ambience, including best place for brunch, dessert, fireside dining, hamburgers, people-watching, and more. Your dinner membership comes with a bona fide membership card and gets you and up to three guests free entry until 10 p.m. After 10 p.m., this handsome house of yum becomes a sophisticated club—you're welcome to linger after dinner and stay as late as you like, ducking into the restroom periodically to make sure your mustache is lush and your wit is devastating.

Located on the third floor above the Dark Horse Tavern, The Warren's atmosphere exudes intimate elegance befitting one of the few private clubs left in Atlanta, with red drapes, exposed brick walls, and cozy armless armchairs. Red and yellow paper lanterns deliver muted mood lighting, and the five fireplaces will make the club feel like a home away from your over-fireplaced home. Chef William Taylor's innovative menu delivers succulent dishes with southern flair. Start out with a tempting goat-cheese fritter ($9) and fried heirloom-tomato salad (with bleu cheese and balsamic reduction, $11). Each of The Warren's entrees will delight your taste buds with a rewarding variety of flavors and textures. Try the espresso rubbed flat iron steak (with a cabernet reduction, au gratin potatoes, and grilled asparagus, $20), captain-crunch-crusted salmon (with mashed potatoes and haricot verts, $17), or apple chili-glazed pork (with broccoli rice and cheese casserole, $19). If making a decision seems difficult, take comfort in the fact that you'll have a year to return again and again. Citysearchers rave about the Warren Burger ($11) and sweet desserts, such as Krispy Kreme bread pudding ($8) and rich chocolate mousse ($5).

As shepherd-of-sophistication Walter Hill taught us in The Warriors, nothing compares to the feeling of being part of a gang, particularly one that dines on adorable bacon-wrapped mignonettes ($12) from a garden terrace with the city skyline and a sweeping sunset as its dinner companions. At The Warren, it won't take long for your friendly and attentive waiters to learn your name and favorite drink, especially if they're both Captain Morgan. In addition to your free entry (and discounts at local boutiques, restaurants, health clubs, and spas), your membership will get you invites to exclusive parties for special occasions, including New Year's, Super Bowl, and the Kentucky Derby, which is rumored to be run by horses this year.

The Warren Club is open Wednesday through Saturday and opens at 6 p.m. Members must be 26+ years old.

Reviews

Citysearchers give The Warren City Club five stars:

  • With a burger that is above and beyond any you've had before, the best DJs in town, and a great staff that always remembers you (but more importantly, remembers what you drink), the Warren City Club is one the best spots in Atlanta. – AlexRobertson
  • We climbed those stairs above the Dark Horse, and entered into a refuge away from the masses. This is at the top of the Highlands, and a great outdoor patio, overlooking the street scene. What a great change of pace. – jaymaygm
  • I like the personal treatment of being a member I can call get a table for me & my friends with just a call. They take pride in this palce [sic] all employees know you by name & makes for great atmosphere with out the snob scene. The prestigious Warren City Club is happy to have you as a member as long as you’ve reached their minimum age of admittance: 26. Far from an arbitrary threshold, this is a carefully researched and specifically chosen milestone at which adulthood has firmly taken route and sophistication begins to elegantly ooze from every pore. Just what is it that 26-year-olds know that 25-year-olds have yet to learn?

  • How to fold a five-dollar bill to make it look like Lincoln is cussing at a school bus.
  • Which secret Earthworm Jim levels are only available in the Sega Genesis version.
  • Sandy was only using you to get rides to and from haircutting school.
  • People who claim to not like tomatoes are all lying! Right to your face!
  • Plural of Pegasus is just Pegasus, not Pegasusses. Also, Pegasusses are real.

The Warren City Club

High above the bustling shops and bistros of Virginia-Highland, The Warren City Club members toast the view on a third-level garden terrace. Tiled in stone and surrounded by Atlanta's cityscape, the patio's rustic french doors lead to exclusive stomping grounds furnished with rich wooden furniture, aged brick walls, and no fewer than five roaring fireplaces. These elegant environs are housed in a turn-of-the-century building, and its timeless appeal is matched by cuisine prepared by Johnson & Wales–trained chef William Taylor.

While most must pay an entry fee to enjoy Chef Taylor's singular suppers such as the Cap'n Crunch–crusted Atlantic salmon or seared sea scallops over butternut-squash risotto, members enjoy unbarred access to any meal. Their status also grants them exclusive deals at local businesses including floral boutiques and personal trainers, and invisible "Members Only" jackets handcrafted by imperial tailors. Non-members hoping for an admission-free taste of the high life can attend Sunday brunch, or drop by the Open House on the first Wednesday of every month from 6 p.m. to midnight.

Customer Reviews

My wife and I recently visited the Warren Club for the very first time and had a wonderful dinner in an elegant atmosphere. If you are looking for a quaint and low-key dinning environment, then the Warren Club is your place. The quality of the meal(s) vs the prices are exceptional... Both the chef and waitress were fantastic host...

a totally different dining experience... unique location...excellent food. It makes you feel like you're a real "insider" and others don't know about this place.

The meal was excellent which made up for a somewhat bland decor ( I expected a bit more elegance). I would return. Steak and vegetables superb. My guest enjoy their vegetarian dishes.
