Most states have made drinking alcohol at home illegal because of the proliferation of home facial-tattoo machines. Enjoy alcohol in public and decorate faces with evanescent smoke-shapes with today's Groupon: for $10, you get $20 worth of drinks plus half off a hookah at The Waterfall bar and hookah lounge.
Succulent suds cascade from the taps as aromatic smoke bellows into the mood-lit recesses of The Waterfall’s full bar and hookah lounge. At this elegant watering hole, 24 tap brews ($4 each)—including $2 Pabst Blue Ribbon and Natural Light—can dampen downspouts and ably fill the mighty cups of Olympic beer-pong teams. Bartenders fancify mojitos with strawberry, raspberry, and mango ($7 each) and transform modest well drinks into well-dressed cocktails with liquors such as Jim Beam bourbon. Or wake up and chill out simultaneously with a Smirnoff-spiked energy drink ($5).
Guests follow velvety-smooth shisha into the hookah lounge to choose from an eclectic variety of specialty flavors, such as creamy chai thai ($12 first bowl, $9 refills). Between each fruity fume-plume groups of friends can determine which members are imaginary with a few rounds of billiards or darts.
Despite its name, The Waterfall is no ordinary watering hole. Couches dot the interior of the laid-back bar, inviting patrons to lounge while downing pints chosen from 24 draft beers or admiring pieces by local artists. In the back, hookahs puff out fragrant smoke, adding an air of mystery to good-natured games of beer pong, pool, shuffle board, and steel-tip darts. The bar stays traditional where it counts, though—its liquor shelves only house top-brand vodkas, whiskeys, and bourbons, and its selection of beers draws brews from both big-name producers and innovative craft breweries. Flat-screen televisions situated above the bar also err on the side of familiarity, broadcasting television favorites such as South Park and games from around the sporting world. Located in The Riverwalk District, The Waterfall also plays host to the Reno Beer Crawl on the fourth Saturday of every month—bringing out drink specials and maps for the tour’s raucous groups of wanderers—and offers glasses for the Riverwalk Merchant Association's Wine Walk on the third Saturday of every month.
