Alternatively, beginning yoga students looking for an introduction to the Ashtanga Yoga style or advanced students looking to upgrade their current skill level can choose the comprehensive four-week beginner course, where skilled instructors acquaint beginning students with the Ashtanga yoga form. Seasoned yogis teach the history of Ashtanga and help students build familiarity with its practices, including sun salutations, standing postures, and breathing techniques. Over the first two weeks, students choose one of four class times—6:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 5:30 p.m.—to attend as many times as they’d like Monday–Thursday. After that, students are free to take as many beginner classes as they’d like at any time during the second two weeks, and they can also attend the weekend mysore classes.
